Spell Checking PDF Bookmarks
Introduction
This tutorial shows how to spell check PDF bookmarks using the AutoBookmark™ plug-in for the Adobe® Acrobat®. This operation finds bookmark spelling errors in the current open PDF document. The errors can be fixed either by selecting a correct spelling from the suggestions list or by editiing titles manually.
Prerequisites
You need a copy of the Adobe® Acrobat® along with the AutoBookmark™ plug-in installed on your computer in order to use this tutorial. You can download trial versions of both the Adobe® Acrobat® and the AutoBookmark™ plug-in.
Step 1 - Open A PDF File
Start the Adobe® Acrobat® application and open a PDF file that contains bookmarks using "File > Open…" menu.
Step 2 - Open The "Check Bookmark Spelling" Tool
Select "Plug-Ins > Bookmarks > Check Spelling…" to open the "Check Bookmark Spelling" tool.
Step 3 - Correct A Spelling Error
The "Check Bookmark Spelling" dialog starts checking bookmarks for the spelling errors. The first found bookmark with a problem will be displayed in the "Bookmark text" field with the problem text highlighted. The list of spelling suggestions is automatically populated. Double-click on the spelling suggestion to automatically replace a currently selected text with the suggestion.
Step 4 - Save Changes
The confirmation dialog appears on the screen once the spell checking is advancing to the next bookmark. Click "OK" to save changes back into the bookmark title. Optionally, check the "Auto-save changes to the bookmark without prompting" box to automatically update bookmarks without showing the confirmation dialog next time.
Step 5 - Correct More Spelling Errors
The checking will automatically advance to the next problem in the same bookmark or to the next bookmark with a spelling error.
Press the "Next>>" button to advance to the next spelling problem either within the same bookmark or in the next bookmark.
Press the "Skip" button to skip the current problem and advance to the next bookmark with a spelling problem.
Press the "Save Changes" button at any time to save changes to the bookmark title. You can manually edit the text in the "Bookmark text" field or use a suggestion list.
Press the "Add To Dictionary" button to save currently selected/highlighted text to the spell-checking dictionary.
Press the "Remove Word…" button to remove currently selected text in the "Bookmark Text" field from the dictionary.
Press the "Ignore All" button to ignore currently selected text in the spell checking of the current PDF document.
The following dialog will be shown once the spell checking is finished checking the bookmarks.
Step 6 - Close The "Check Bookmark Spelling" Tool
Press "Start" to run spell checking again (in case if some errors have been skipped). Click "Close" once done working with the "Check Bookmark Spelling" tool.
Examine the bookmark titles to verify that bookmarks have been updated. Use "File > Save" menu to save changes back to the file.
