Visual Page Index for PDF Documents
Overview
The AutoBookmark™ plug-in for Adobe® Acrobat® provides a function for automatic generation of visual page index with hyperlinked thumbnail images of the PDF document pages. The reader can jump to a specific page just by clicking on the page thumbnail image. Use this feature to create an interactive table of contents for catalogs, manuals, and other documents that could benefit from the visual index or table of contents.
The following screenshot illustrates the concept of the visual page index for a PDF document. It can be seen as a visual table of contents for documents with a graphical content.

The visual index consists of one or more new pages with page thumbnails organized into a number of rows and columns. Each index page has a single-line title at the top. Each thumbnail image has a hyperlink to a corresponding page and a text label below it. The label text can be customized and includes a corresponding page number (or a page label). Template PDF files can be used for the advanced customization of the page index appearance.
The page index can be created for:
  • All pages in the document
  • Specific page range
  • Only for bookmarked pages (at user-defined levels)
