Using MAPI to send email from AutoDocMail and AutoMailMerge for Adobe Acrobat
MAPI stands for Messaging Application Programming Interface and it gives programs the ability to send email using your email program to do the actual sending.
Both AutoDocMail and AutoMailMerge plug-ins can send emails either via MAPI or via SMTP mail server.
MAPI is very limited protocol that cannot tell application which mail application is currently set up on your system to process MAPI requests.
Because of this, getting MAPI to work is sometimes may be difficult.
Below is a set of instructions on how to set up MAPI for several popular mail applications.
If you cannot get MAPI to work for you, then we suggest using SMTP as an alternative. Sending multiple emails via SMTP is faster and does not require any human interaction.
